Provider-specific findings

Delinquency research for this provider

The notes below may document a rule or explain a specific public-information limit. Any active notice and direct provider confirmation remain controlling.

Grace period
Cal Water's standard delinquency materials do not state a universal grace-period number after the printed due date. The bill's due date controls ordinary payment status; the discontinuation notice provides the later statutory process and an opportunity to pay, arrange payments, or request an extension before shutoff.
Late-fee rules
The reviewed Cal Water tariff and customer materials do not list a routine percentage late fee or daily interest charge for ordinary residential past-due balances. Delinquent customers remain responsible for the unpaid bill and may incur separately authorized reconnection, re-establishment, deposit, returned-payment, special-service, or third-party payment charges. The individual account notice controls any item actually assessed.
Shut-off timeline
Cal Water's published standard says a delinquency notice warns that service may be discontinued after 60 days, subject to required notices and protections. A second notice is used when billing and service addresses differ; an occupant-notice effort is made at least 10 days before discontinuance; and a final door hanger is posted at least five business days before shutoff. Service is not routinely disconnected at night or on weekends. Eligible customers may request an arrangement of up to six months or an extension of up to two weeks.
Warning and notice protocol
The process uses written delinquency/discontinuation notices, a second notice when the mailing address differs from the service address, reasonable written notice to an occupant when the customer is not present, and a final door hanger at least five business days before the scheduled interruption. Cal Water also supports portal communications and PromisePay reminders for eligible customers. Keep mailing address, telephone, and email information current and contact the Bakersfield District immediately if a notice involves a medical, hardship, landlord, or tenant issue.
Reconnection costs
Cal Water's standard materials identify a $50 re-establishment or reconnection fee during regular business hours and a $90 fee when service is requested outside regular business hours. A required deposit, unpaid balance, returned-payment charge, or other account-specific condition may be added before restoration; confirm the total with the Bakersfield District.
