Why normalize by billing days?

A 35-day bill will usually show more use than a 28-day bill even if the household behaves the same way. Dividing gallons by billing days produces a daily comparison that separates calendar length from changes in consumption.

CCF and HCF conversion

Many utilities bill in one hundred cubic feet, abbreviated CCF or HCF. One CCF equals approximately 748 gallons. This calculator converts each entered unit before calculating daily use and cost per thousand gallons.

Why the calculator cannot reproduce every bill

A utility statement may combine a fixed meter charge, tiered water rates, sewer, stormwater, taxes, franchise charges, previous balances, penalties, or assistance credits. The calculator compares the totals you enter; it does not claim that the result is an official tariff rate.

If daily use increased sharply, compare meter readings and check whether the bill used an estimated reading. If usage stayed similar but the total rose, compare fixed charges, rate tiers, billing days, and prior balances line by line.
