Notice and timing
How delinquency is handled
Grace period after the due date
Meter rates are due when rendered and all water bills are delinquent 15 days after the billing date under Alhambra Municipal Code §15.08.040. The code states that unpaid meter rates may be shut off without further notice and that a $5 penalty is added; current SB 998 protections and notices may provide additional residential safeguards.
Late-fee calculation
The municipal code and current City fee materials list a $5 late-bill penalty per billing cycle. The City’s fee schedule separately governs returned payments, turn-on/turn-off, meter testing, and other account charges; customers should confirm current charges with the Utilities Customer Service Center.
Disconnection timeline
Day 0 is the bi-monthly bill date. Meter rates are due upon rendering; day 15 is the delinquency point and $5 penalty trigger under the code. The City’s SB 998 policy allows protected residential customers to contest bills and request alternative arrangements, and failure to comply with an approved arrangement or current charges unpaid for 60 days can permit discontinuation after required notice.
