Notice and timing
How delinquency is handled
Grace period after the due date
Residential accounts receive a 15-day grace period before late fees are assessed; commercial accounts receive 5 days. Customers must pay within 15 calendar days of statement mailing under the discontinuance policy.
Late-fee calculation
The posted master fee schedule lists an $8 flat late-payment fee for residential delinquent bills and a 10% late fee for commercial accounts. Financially unable residential customers who qualify under the SB 998 policy may have late fees waived once every 12 months.
Disconnection timeline
Water service will not be discontinued for nonpayment until the account has been delinquent at least 60 calendar days. A written payment reminder is sent at least 10 business days before discontinuation and a final shutoff warning/door hanger is delivered no less than 5 business days in advance; the policy also states a door-hanger warning no less than 10 days in advance.
