Mail, text, and in-person payment instructions
Pay by text
SBMWD’s current payment pages do not publish a dedicated text-to-pay keyword or short code. The utility’s AMI program may send unusual-use alerts by email, text message, or phone call to customers with upgraded meters, but those alerts are informational and do not constitute payment authorization. Customers should enroll through OnlineBiller for e-billing, paperless notices, and bank-account autopay rather than respond to an unverified payment text.
Mail-in address
San Bernardino Municipal Water Department (SBMWD), P.O. Box 710, San Bernardino, CA 92402. The utility instructs customers to return the bill stub, make checks payable to SBMWD, and ensure payment is received by the due date; the postmark is not treated as the receipt date. SBMWD specifically warns customers not to mail past-due payments and not to send cash by mail.
Counters, drop boxes, and office hours
The SBMWD Customer Service office is at 1350 South E Street, San Bernardino, CA 92408. Lobby and call-center hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. In-office payments are cash, cashier’s check, check, or money order; the office does not accept credit/debit cards at the counter. An after-hours payment depository is on the south side of the Customer Service building, and deposits made after 7:00 a.m. are processed the next business day. OnlineBiller bank-account payments, ACI card payments, and the printed mail address are the other published channels.
