Payment channels

Pay Irvine Ranch Water District (IRWD)

Use the provider’s verified online, telephone, mail, or counter instructions. Check the final confirmation screen for the amount, processing date, and any transaction fee before submitting.

Primary online route

Use the official payment portal

The direct portal is the fastest route when it is available. The provider identifies its payment gateway as Paymentus. Never enter account credentials into a lookalike site reached through an unsolicited message.

Telephone payment

Phone IVR

888-288-0141 for one-time payment by phone; the official payment table identifies the same Paymentus channel as accepting residential and commercial payments with processor fees.

Have your account number and payment instrument ready. Follow the provider’s recorded prompts and retain the confirmation number.

Alternative channels

Mail, text, and in-person payment instructions

Pay by text

IRWD’s current payment pages do not publish a dedicated text-to-pay keyword or short-code enrollment path. Customers can use the Paymentus portal, one-time phone payment, bank bill pay, or in-person/mail methods. IRWD does offer IRWD Alert and usage-monitoring tools, but those are notification or water-efficiency services rather than a published SMS payment enrollment program.

Mail-in address

Irvine Ranch Water District, P.O. Box 51403, Los Angeles, CA 90051-5703 for the current payment-options page; the District notes that its mailing address changed January 23, 2026 and instructs customers to use the billing stub/courtesy envelope and include the 10-digit account number in the Invoice Number field so the payment posts correctly.

Counters, drop boxes, and office hours

IRWD Headquarters, 15600 Sand Canyon Ave., Irvine, CA 92618, accepts walk-in or drive-through check payments Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., and on alternate Fridays; the parking-lot drop box is available after hours and weekends and posts on the next business day. The current table identifies check-only in-person/drop-box payment with no convenience fee. The current IRWD pages do not list a staffed cash counter or a complete third-party payment-center directory, although a separate cash-pay guide describes barcode cash payments at participating retail stores and warns that a convenience fee may apply.

Accepted digital instruments

What you can use online

Paymentus auto pay accepts checking or savings accounts with no convenience fee; one-time Paymentus payments accept Visa/Mastercard, American Express/Discover, check/eCheck, Venmo, PayPal, and PayPal Credit, subject to the processor fee. The District also supports one-time phone payments through the same processor, bank bill pay by check, and other online-payment services such as Apple Pay/Google Pay for one-time transactions. Beginning July 1, 2025, credit/debit cards and those digital wallets are not accepted for automatic payments; autopay should use ACH/eCheck.

2026 transaction pricing

Convenience fees

For FY 2026, the official payment table lists a $1.89 residential or $3.99 commercial convenience fee for one-time Paymentus payments, including one-time phone payments; auto pay by checking or savings account has no fee. IRWD states that the processor—not the District—charges the fee and IRWD receives none of it. One-time eCheck, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Venmo, and similar payment-service transactions are also subject to a processor convenience fee.

Fees can vary by payment type, channel, account class, and processor terms. The checkout screen is the final fee disclosure.

Payment guidance

Choose the payment channel that fits your deadline

The safest payment path is the one published by Irvine Ranch Water District (IRWD) and matched to the account information on your bill. Online portals are convenient, but telephone, mail, counter, and drop-box options may follow different posting schedules and may use different fees.

For a routine payment, save the final confirmation page or IVR number and check when the transaction will post. For a same-day shut-off notice, do not assume that submitting a card payment automatically stops a field order; ask the provider what amount and confirmation are required.

Never send your account number, password, card details, or bank information to Water Ledger. Those details belong only on the provider’s verified payment channel or at an authorized counter.
