Notice and timing
How delinquency is handled
Grace period after the due date
Bills are due upon presentation and become overdue and subject to disconnection if not paid within 60 days of the bill date. A $30 late fee is applied when payment is not made on or before the 45th day after billing, according to the current Water Ordinance and rate page.
Late-fee calculation
The District’s 2026 rate-and-fee page lists a $30 late fee, a $30 returned-check fee, and a $50 shutoff fee. The ordinance states that the $30 late fee is applied after day 45 and that the shutoff fee is applied when service is subject to termination; tampering is $250 and removing a District lock is $250.
Disconnection timeline
Day 0 is the bi-monthly bill date and payment is due upon presentation. Day 45 without payment triggers the $30 late fee and an overdue notice. Day 60 is the stated shutoff eligibility point. A termination notice is delivered in person and service may be discontinued if payment is not received by the date in that notice; restoration requires delinquent balances, late and shutoff fees, reconnection, and the required security deposit.
