Notice and timing
How delinquency is handled
Grace period after the due date
A dedicated this detail was not publicly posted. The current Lakewood rate page publishes the delinquent-billing formula but not a universal grace-period day count between the printed due date and service interruption.
Late-fee calculation
Lakewood’s 2026 water-rate schedule charges a delinquent billing fee of 5% per month on the past-due balance, capped at $15 per month. A returned ACH/check fee is $18, a lien fee is $50 plus collection charges, and unauthorized connection penalties can be separate. Customers should call (303) 987-7615 to confirm current account postings because the City warns that fees can change.
Disconnection timeline
The current public rate pages do not state a day-by-day delinquency-to-shutoff calendar. Past-due sewer/stormwater accounts may enter the City’s annual lien process: a Notice to Lien is sent in late August, payment is due by the October date stated in the notice, final liens are filed November 1, and a $50 lien charge is added. Water-service termination timing is account-specific and should be confirmed with Utility Billing.
