What the public record says about a leak adjustment
WaterOne rules require the customer to show that the estimated lost water was at least 25% of normal consumption. For a monthly bill, the adjusted bill includes normal monthly consumption plus one-half of the first 25,000 gallons lost and one-half of gallons above 25,000. For a bimonthly bill, normal two-month consumption is used, one-half of the first 25,000 gallons lost is added, and one-fourth of gallons above 25,000 is added. The combined gallons are then billed under the rate schedule in effect; the rules include proof and filing procedures for the leak.
