Leak adjustment and assistance information for City of Leander Utilities - Water and Wastewater

A high bill does not automatically qualify for a credit. This page states only the provider-specific emergency, leak, or assistance details identified in public material.

1

Stop active water loss

Use the provider’s emergency route for public-side issues and a qualified repair route for private plumbing.

2

Preserve the evidence

Keep dated readings, photographs, parts receipts, contractor invoices, and proof that usage returned to normal.

3

Ask for the exact policy

Confirm the form, filing deadline, eligible repairs, calculation method, and payment expectation during review.

Provider-specific findings

The notes below may document a route, rule, or explicit public-information limit. General preparation steps are not represented as utility policy.

Emergency reporting route
512-259-2640, Press 1, for water/wastewater emergencies; the City also identifies this as the emergency phone for utility service problems.
Leak-adjustment policy
The reviewed Leander pages do not publish a specific high-bill leak-adjustment formula, receipt requirement or annual cap. Customers should stop the leak, document the repair with invoices or photographs, and contact Utility Billing at 512-259-1142 to request an account review. The City's AMI rollout is intended to improve usage visibility and can support investigation, but it does not itself guarantee a credit.
Utility assistance program
Customers at least 65 or who qualify as disabled can receive a 20% discount on the fixed monthly water and sewer base charge; usage charges are not discounted. Valid age, SSI or VA-disability proof is required. LCRA WaterSmart rebates cover 50% of eligible water-efficiency work up to $600 per residential property, subject to program rules.
State and federal aid connection
The reviewed Leander pages identify LCRA WaterSmart rebates but do not identify a direct Texas LIHWAP water-bill intake or a local charity payment program. Customers facing hardship should call Utility Billing to ask about payment agreements and current state or nonprofit referrals.
