Notice and timing
How delinquency is handled
Grace period after the due date
The City gives 28 days after the bill is mailed before delivering a suspension notice; service is suspended 14 days after that notice if the account is not paid in full.
Late-fee calculation
Accounts suspended for nonpayment incur a $48 delinquent fee and an $18 reinstatement fee for each service. The full delinquent amount must be paid before service is restored; the City also warns that scheduling an online payment after the disconnect date does not ensure uninterrupted service.
Disconnection timeline
Day 0 is the bill mailing. If unpaid by day 28, Yakima delivers a suspension notice; service is suspended 14 days later, approximately day 42. Restoration requires the delinquent balance plus the $48 delinquent fee and $18 reinstatement fee for each affected service. After-hours water meter turn-ons carry a $52 fee when the account is active and current.
