Water Ledger aims to make utility information readable and usable for as many people as possible. The site uses semantic HTML, visible focus styles, descriptive page titles, keyboard-friendly links, responsive layouts, sufficient color contrast, and text alternatives for meaningful graphics.
What we are working toward
- Keyboard access to search, navigation, forms, and external links.
- Clear heading order and landmarks for screen-reader navigation.
- Responsive content that remains useful at increased text size.
- Warnings when a link leaves Water Ledger or opens an external provider.
- Plain-language explanations beside complex billing and policy terms.
Known limitations
Third-party utility websites, payment portals, PDFs, maps, and document viewers may not meet the same accessibility standard. The directory cannot change those external systems, but it can identify the provider and offer alternate contact paths where the reviewed public information makes them available.
Report a barrier
If a page, control, label, color treatment, or document creates a barrier, please report the page address and describe what happened, including the assistive technology or browser involved if known. Use the contact method published by the site operator. A correction request is welcome even when you do not have technical language for the problem.
Continuous improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing practice. We review new templates and material changes as the directory grows, prioritize barriers that prevent people from finding payment or emergency information, and may update this statement as the site’s features change.
