Notice and timing
How delinquency is handled
Grace period after the due date
A dedicated this detail was not publicly posted. ACWWA assesses delinquent penalties monthly but the reviewed 2026 materials do not publish a universal day-count grace period.
Late-fee calculation
For 2026 residential customers, delinquent charges are assessed the lesser of 25% or $15 of the past-due amount per month, plus collection costs and attorney fees. Non-residential customers are assessed the lesser of 10% or $250 per month. Returned checks are charged $35.
Disconnection timeline
ACWWA's rules authorize penalties, turnoff, collection costs, and liens for unpaid charges but do not publish a single universal day-by-day shutoff timeline. When a scheduled disconnect payment is returned, ACWWA sends standard and certified notices stating the shutoff date, which must be at least one business day after the notice is posted.
