What the public record says about a leak adjustment
Hollywood requires customers to exercise due diligence, stop leaks promptly, and report City-side leaks. Under the current water code, an account exceeding 200% of its prior 12-month average monthly usage may qualify once in a 12-month period for an adjustment of the monthly overage to the lowest tier for up to two months, if the customer provides supporting documentation showing the leak or other valid cause and its subsequent repair; approval is by the Financial Services and Public Utilities directors or designees. For sewer, a signed affidavit for a significant leak over 500 cubic feet/approximately 3,700 gallons can support an 80% credit on water consumption above the 12-month average multiplied by the sewer rate, limited to one credit per 12 months and two months. While a rate-adjustment request is pending, the code permits the City to require payment of the prior six-month average for the high-use period.
