What the public record says about a leak adjustment
Lawrence considers one leak event per year when the claim is filed within 90 days. For an exterior or hidden leak between the City meter and the structure, usage must return to normal, the customer must provide repair proof such as a plumber invoice or bill plus a written description of the leak, and a signed Leak Adjustment Request Form is required. Irrigation leaks, interior leaks such as toilets or washing machines, frozen pipes and negligent excess use are excluded. Once documentation is complete and use normalizes, the City may credit 50% of leak usage above normal, typically for a maximum of two months; balances above $50 may be placed on a payment plan up to three months.
