Payment channels

Pay Metropolitan Utilities District (M.U.D.)

Use the provider’s verified online, telephone, mail, or counter instructions. Check the final confirmation screen for the amount, processing date, and any transaction fee before submitting.

Primary online route

Use the official payment portal

The direct portal is the fastest route when it is available. The provider identifies its payment gateway as Paymentus; M.U.D.'s official quick-pay and account pages route customers to Paymentus, and payment confirmation emails are identified as coming from noreply@paymentus.com.. Never enter account credentials into a lookalike site reached through an unsolicited message.

Telephone payment

Phone IVR

Call (402) 554-6666 or toll-free (800) 732-5864. The automated telephone system is available 24 hours a day for account and payment functions; live customer service is generally Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.-5:15 p.m. Water emergencies use (402) 554-7777 instead.

Have your account number and payment instrument ready. Follow the provider’s recorded prompts and retain the confirmation number.

Alternative channels

Mail, text, and in-person payment instructions

Pay by text

M.U.D.'s current payment-options page lists text-to-pay among recurring and automatic payment methods, but does not publish a public SMS keyword or a separate short code. Customers should register at myaccount.mudomaha.com using the account number and the last four digits of the primary account holder's SSN/EIN, open Pay My Bill, choose AutoPay/Add Schedule/Add New Payment Method, and select an eligible card or eCheck method. Because text-to-pay activation is delivered through the Paymentus account workflow, customers should follow the confirmation message and verify enrollment with M.U.D. before relying on an SMS debit; never send a password or full bank credentials in a text reply.

Mail-in address

Mail the payment stub and check or money order to Metropolitan Utilities District, P.O. Box 3600, Omaha, NE 68103. Customers should write the M.U.D. account number on the payment and allow postal delivery time; the remittance address is separate from the district's administrative office at 7350 World Communications Drive, Omaha, NE 68122.

Counters, drop boxes, and office hours

M.U.D.'s current payment page does not present a normal walk-in cashier counter. A payment drop box is located at the M.U.D. Operations Center entrance, 3100 S. 61st Avenue, Gate 1, Omaha, NE; it accepts check, cash, or money order according to the posted instructions, and customers should not leave unsecured cash in an unattended box. Walmart Pay is available at any Walmart for cash or PIN debit without a M.U.D. processing fee. Administrative offices are not a substitute for a scheduled service appointment, so customers should call (402) 554-6666 before attempting an in-person account visit and retain the receipt or account number for any payment.

Accepted digital instruments

What you can use online

The official M.U.D./Paymentus flow supports electronic check/ACH and Visa, Mastercard, and Discover card payments; the current ways-to-pay material also lists PayPal, Venmo, recurring AutoPay, account-scheduled payments, and text-to-pay. Phone payments support eCheck and the listed card types. Walmart Pay accepts cash or PIN debit at participating Walmart locations. Customers should use the official portal or the phone number on the bill and confirm the final amount and processor disclosure before submitting.

2026 transaction pricing

Convenience fees

The current 2026 M.U.D. ways-to-pay page identifies Paymentus card and eCheck options but does not display a fixed online dollar fee or percentage in accessible public text. Record the exact charge shown by Paymentus on the confirmation screen as account-specific/not publicly stated until M.U.D. publishes a fee schedule; customers should review that disclosure before authorizing a card payment. The Walmart Pay option is advertised without a M.U.D. processing fee.

Fees can vary by payment type, channel, account class, and processor terms. The checkout screen is the final fee disclosure.

Payment guidance

Choose the payment channel that fits your deadline

The safest payment path is the one published by Metropolitan Utilities District (M.U.D.) and matched to the account information on your bill. Online portals are convenient, but telephone, mail, counter, and drop-box options may follow different posting schedules and may use different fees.

For a routine payment, save the final confirmation page or IVR number and check when the transaction will post. For a same-day shut-off notice, do not assume that submitting a card payment automatically stops a field order; ask the provider what amount and confirmation are required.

Never send your account number, password, card details, or bank information to Water Ledger. Those details belong only on the provider’s verified payment channel or at an authorized counter.
