- Four-tier conservation rate structure for single-family residential customers. A common 5/8-inch meter has a $0.4627 daily service charge, equivalent to $13.88 for 30 days. The first 5,000 gallons per 30 days are $1.61 per 1,000 gallons, the next 5,000 are $2.87, the next 10,000 are $4.27, and consumption above 20,000 is $6.33. Thresholds are prorated to actual billing days. Single-family customers may also receive a seasonal Excessive Use Charge of $9 per 1,000 gallons above the applicable daily threshold, plus Southern Nevada Water Authority surcharges and a small surcharge on the bill.

- For a common 5/8-inch single-family meter using 5,000–7,000 gallons in a 30-day month, the current LVVWD water-only charge is approximately $22–$28 before SNWA surcharges, the applicable 0.25% residential surcharge, taxes or excessive-use charges: $13.88 service charge plus $8.05 for the first 5,000 gallons and $5.74–$11.48 for the next 2,000–4,000 gallons. The estimate excludes sewer because LVVWD is a potable-water provider; sewer/reclamation charges are billed by Clark County Water Reclamation District or the relevant municipality and can materially increase the household’s combined utility cost.
- Wastewater and sewer calculation
- LVVWD does not provide a bundled wastewater charge on its standard water bill. The water bill contains LVVWD daily service, water-use, SNWA regional, conservation/excessive-use, and related charges. Sewer and wastewater collection/treatment are billed separately by the applicable local provider—commonly Clark County Water Reclamation District or a city utility—under that provider’s own flat, ERU, or usage-based rules. - Meter reading
- LVVWD is replacing older mechanical meters with advanced ultrasonic meters. Its multi-year AMI infrastructure program achieved approximately 98% AMI data collection in recent budget reporting, with drive-by processes used for the remaining non-AMI meter data and a goal near 99%. Current customer pages say advanced meters improve leak detection and can trigger a text alert or automated phone call when unusually high use is detected, provided contact details are accurate. The bill identifies current and previous read dates and monthly usage; the exact route date varies with billing days. The District’s ultrasonic replacement program and AMI network support online usage monitoring and leak alerts rather than a purely manual monthly-reading model.
- New-account deposit
- Residential service requires a $150 deposit per meter, split across the first two bills. Commercial deposits are computed from account usage history and meter size and are due when service is requested. The current public rate page does not state a credit-check waiver or a precise refund date for the residential deposit; customers should call Customer Care at 702-870-4194 for account-specific deposit and refund rules.
- Activation or transfer fee
- The current published LVVWD fee schedule lists a $10 turn-on fee for water-service activation. An additional $15 applies for same-day water turn-on or shutoff, and $70 applies for after-hours turn-on or shutoff when the District can respond.
