Notice and timing
How delinquency is handled
Grace period after the due date
Residential bills become delinquent no sooner than 14 days after the billing date; nonresidential bills no sooner than 21 days. The Ohio customer-rights document also extends the past-due date to the first full business day after a weekend or legal holiday.
Late-fee calculation
Aqua's Ohio customer-rights document states that a late-payment fee may be added after the past-due date and that a payment mailed on or before that date is protected by the postmark. The reviewed public pages do not state the current Mentor tariff's exact late-fee amount; customers can use ePortal payment arrangements or call 877-987-2782.
Disconnection timeline
Aqua's ePortal instructions require a customer who pays a same-day one-time payment after receiving a shutoff notice to call 877-987-2782 with the confirmation number to prevent disconnection. A valid Ohio medical certificate gives the customer 30 days to pay or make arrangements. The public pages do not publish the full Mentor notice-to-field-shutoff day sequence.
