What the public record says about a leak adjustment
Virginia American Water does not expose one universal current 2026 leak-credit formula for all of its Virginia districts. A customer should promptly inspect the meter and property, stop and repair the leak, retain plumber invoices, parts receipts, photographs, and repair dates, and contact customer service to request a high-bill review before the account becomes delinquent. The earlier official tariff language reviewed says an underground-leak adjustment is considered using the customer's previous three consecutive billing periods and excludes new construction; the current amount, eligibility, wastewater treatment, and any district cap must be confirmed under the applicable 2026 tariff. A credit is not automatic for a recurring fixture leak, customer-side negligence, or failure to provide repair documentation.
