Provider-specific review
What the public record says about a leak adjustment
Eau Claire instructs customers to compare the current bill's CCF usage and previous/current read dates with up to three years of bill history. Customers should inspect for leaks using the City's leak-detection guidance and call the Utility Shop for a leaking meter. Under Eau Claire municipal code, when a leak unknown to the customer is found in an appliance or plumbing and promptly repaired after identification or notification, the utility estimates the wasted water and bills that excess at the lowest published volume rate; if the customer fails to repair promptly, total consumption is billed at regular rates and no further adjustment is made after notice and opportunity to correct. The reviewed ordinance does not specify a receipt form or annual cap.
