Notice and timing
How delinquency is handled
Grace period after the due date
Bills are due within 20 days of issuance. A 3% late payment charge is added to bills not paid within that 20-day period. Delinquent balances outstanding November 1 are subject to a further 10% penalty and must be paid by November 15 to avoid being levied as a property tax.
Late-fee calculation
A 3% late payment charge is added after the 20-day payment period. Under Wisconsin Statute 66.0809(3), a delinquent balance outstanding November 1 receives a 10% penalty; unless the balance and penalty are paid by November 15, the amount is levied as a tax against the parcel. The 2026 fee schedule also lists a $36 payment-not-honored charge for utility transactions.
Disconnection timeline
The reviewed Eau Claire utility page publishes the due date, late charge and November tax-levy progression but not a fixed physical water-shutoff day count. Delinquent balances outstanding on November 1 face the 10% penalty and November 15 tax-levy deadline; customers should contact Utility Billing for service-specific collection status.
