- Wastewater and sewer calculation
- Residential wastewater is a $28.66 monthly base facility charge plus $5.08 per 1,000 gallons of metered water used, capped at 12,000 gallons per month. Wastewater commodity charges therefore follow potable-water meter usage but stop increasing above the published residential cap. Base charges continue even when service is temporarily off.
- Meter reading
- The City reads water meters monthly and calculates consumption as the difference between consecutive readings. Sunrise states that meter readers may be Bermex personnel and should carry visible company/name identification rather than City uniforms. The public pages do not promise hourly AMI data; meter-read timing follows the customer’s monthly billing route.
- New-account deposit
- Residential accounts must be opened in person with proof of ownership or tenancy, photo identification, and the appropriate service deposit. The current web pages state that deposits are held while the account remains open; at closing, the deposit and accrued interest are applied to any balance and a remaining credit is refunded. The public current page does not expose one universal residential dollar deposit; commercial water/sewer deposits are meter-size based, and historical schedules list amounts such as $85 water/$100 sewer for a 5/8-inch commercial meter. Confirm the current amount at the service center.
- Activation or transfer fee
- The January 2026 Sunrise sheet lists a $15 service fee per water meter for permanent account closing and a $15 fee for temporary water/gas turn-off or turn-on. Opening or transferring service requires the appropriate deposit and may require clearing unpaid balances at the applicant or property.
