For a 5/8-inch meter, the $17.18 monthly minimum includes a $10.81 customer charge and 2,500 gallons; water usage is $0.25484 per 100 gallons for the first 5,000 gallons, $0.35054 per 100 gallons for the next 10,000, and $0.44068 per 100 gallons above 15,000. Outside the City, a 50% water/sewer surcharge applies. Sewer is $25.26 per month plus $0.80792 per 100 gallons, subject to a winter-established residential maximum.

- Wastewater and sewer calculation
- Sewer cannot be separately metered for ordinary residential billing, so the City uses monthly metered water consumption at $0.80792 per 100 gallons plus the $25.26 monthly sewer customer charge, up to a maximum. Each April, Tallahassee calculates the next 12-month residential maximum from the highest water consumption on the four winter bills dated December, January, February, and March. Water used during the winter can therefore lower the sewer ceiling for the following year; a 50% outside-City surcharge applies where applicable.

- The City bills monthly and its customer bill shows up to 13 months of metered-service history. Tallahassee publishes information about reading smart meters and automated account/payment services, but the current public water pages do not specify a universal AMI vendor, radio interval, or hourly transmission schedule; exact read dates depend on the monthly account cycle.
- New-account deposit
- Residential water-only service generally requires a $50 deposit; sewer-only also requires $50, and a combined water-and-sewer account uses a $50 deposit in the City's current connection table. Deposits may be paid in three monthly installments, and a letter from a prior/current utility showing at least 12 months of good payment history with no delinquent disconnections or returned payments may waive the deposit. Residential deposits are returned as an account credit after three years of good payment history or at account closure, subject to final charges; the City may require an increased deposit if charges exceed the existing deposit.
- Activation or transfer fee
- New, transferring, and nonpayment-reconnection residential accounts incur connection charges. Water-only service is listed as a $50 deposit plus an $18.50 service charge ($68.50 total); combined water and sewer uses the same $50 deposit plus $18.50 service charge. Same-day residential requests must be received by 3 p.m. Monday–Friday excluding observed holidays. Transfers use the online account or forms/phone process, and the City states that connection fees apply to transfers.
