- Wastewater and sewer calculation
- Residential wastewater is based on the same metered water consumption unless an approved irrigation or secondary meter excludes water that does not enter the sanitary sewer. Effective July 2026 inside-city wastewater is $35.90 basic service, $3.20 per CCF for the first 1-2 CCF, and $11.40 per CCF above 2 CCF; outside-city charges are $39.90, $3.50, and $12.55 respectively. KUB’s irrigation-meter and secondary-meter programs are the primary route for separating pool or irrigation water from wastewater charges.
- Meter reading
- KUB uses Sensus iPerl digital water meters as part of its meter-modernization program. The meters are generally near the curb and expose leak indicators; customers can view meter data in the KUB account and mobile tools. Bills are normally based on monthly reads, with route windows and occasional estimates when access or equipment issues prevent a read.
- New-account deposit
- KUB’s start-service page states that a $300 utility deposit may be required and a residential credit review may waive it. The water service procedures cap a residential deposit at twice the highest monthly bill averaged across residential water customers; installment payments may be authorized for hardship. After 18 consecutive months without a past-due balance or nonpayment shutoff, KUB may refund the deposit, including earned interest, by crediting the account.
- Activation or transfer fee
- A $35 residential connection fee appears on the first bill for next-business-day service; same-day or after-hours residential activation is $60. A property-management-plan transfer can waive the ordinary transfer fee when the property owner is pre-authorized. Commercial starting service is $45 next business day or $65 same-day/after-hours.
