- New-account deposit
- A refundable deposit and activation charge are required for all metered services. New residential customers pay a minimum $75 deposit, which may be higher for an unsatisfactory prior account history; after 12 months with no more than two late payments, the deposit is refunded to the account. At closure it is applied to the final bill and any remaining balance of $10 or more is automatically refunded by check within 45 days. The residential deposit can be waived for qualifying customers age 65 or older with a qualifying utility letter of credit, or for customers with qualifying 12-month current or recent utility history without disconnections, excessive delinquency, or dishonored payments. New commercial customers pay two times the average bill or at least $175, depending on meter size.
- Activation or transfer fee
- Activation fees are $30 for same-day service, $20 for next-day or two-days-out service, $15 for service scheduled three or more days out, and $50 for after-hours activation. Same-day applications with deposits and fees must be submitted by 2:30 p.m. Transfer and new-service requests require proof of deed or lease and identification; any applicable deposit is separate from the activation charge.
